Hagerstown, MD – Francis Pearre “Frank” “Sonny” Clopper, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
 
He was born in Charlton, Maryland on February 21, 1938, to the late Thomas Pearre Clopper and Thelma Needy Clopper.
 
Francis was a 1956 graduate of Clear Spring High School.
 
He worked as a computer specialist for Potomac Edison for over 30 years until his retirement.
 
Francis was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
 
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hagerstown, MD.
 
Francis was a member of the BPOE #378 Elk’s Lodge of Hagerstown, where he held multiple positions including State President. He was also a member of Joseph C. Herbert Post #222 American Legion Clear Spring, and the North American Rod & Gun Club.
 
Francis participated in the French and Indian war reenactments at Fort Frederick State Park.
 
He enjoyed guns, shooting, cooking, traveling, and spending time with his family.
 
Francis is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Patricia Miller Clopper, whom he married on January 17, 1964; daughter Kelly C. Likely and her husband Tom; brother Darryl Clopper and his wife Nina; brother James Clopper; brother Kevin Clopper; brother Mark Clopper; grandchildren: Darrel, Andrew, Shawn, Ashley, Noah, and Elizabeth; 11 great grandchildren; niece Marissa Clopper.
 
The family will receive friends at The Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open at 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.
 
Burial services will be private.
